"Monsters" was originally published in the anthology Spoon Knife 2: Test Chamber from NeuroQueer Books. The novelette is a direct prequel to the novel Insurgent Otherworld by Nick Walker & Andrew M. Reichart, serialized now at the Weird Luck website.
Issue No. 5 also features a previously unpublished backup story by Andrew M. Reichart, "Things That Crawled from the Shadows," which takes place between issues 1 and 2 of the Weird Luck webcomic.
The first edition of No. 5 (limited to 99 copies) was made exclusively for the attendees and backers of the first Outer Dark Symposium on the Greater Weird in Atlanta, Georgia in 2017. The second limited edition (also 99 copies) was exclusive to NecronomiCon Providence 2017; a few leftover copies are still available.
